NOTICE FOR BARBADIAN STUDENTS - PAYMENT OF UNDERGRADUATE TUITION FEES

For Release Upon Receipt - Friday, July 6, 2018

PAYMENT OF UNDERGRADUATE TUITION FEES

BY THE GOVERNMENT OF BARBADOS

Barbadian applicants and prospective applicants to The UWI are asked to note that the Government of Barbados, in the Budget Speech of June 11, 2018 indicated as follows:

“We will abolish undergraduate tuition fees for those attending the University of the West Indies with effect from the next semester. In return we will require each student to contribute to the development of social capital by giving back a minimum of 100 hours in approved service to the country. We will introduce safeguards against the explosion of enrolment and estimate that this measure will increase expenditure by $22 million directly.” Applicants should be guided accordingly.

The University further advises that applications are still being accepted, and qualified persons should take advantage of this opportunity to earn their Bachelor’s degree.
